I've just started creating HDR photos with my Canon SLR digicam. The picture on top is an HDR photo created by merging three various exposed shots. The picture on bottom is what one would normally get from a single point and shoot picture.Oh, btw this is where we are staying at right now in Mississippi.

I wanna see your camera...but w/ a tripod and a change of the manual settings, you could get the house properly exposed...
Nats name is in the tree because the software I used to merge the photos into HDRs is a demo version that Watermarks the inages with the word PHOTOMATIX.
shannon, What do you mean the house properly exposed? I was using a tripod and an manual settings of exposures from 3 seconds to 12 seconds. These shots were taken right at the end of dusk turning to night but before you can see stars.
I've had to do this, too. Sometimes, especially with digital, you just can't capture the full contrast of an image. I also wrote an article on high constrast images and how to combine them with Gimp.
I agree with Shannon....I love the top shot. I think manual setting and proper exposure - maybe even longer exposure could have yielded the same results
